Why Horse Owners Choose Horserail

Electric Fencing That Puts Safety First

Horserail electric fencing combines effective containment with uncompromising safety—the way horse fencing should be.

Flexes on Impact

Unlike rigid fencing, the electric rail flexes 6-8 inches on impact, helping prevent serious injuries to your horses.

Behavior Correction

Quickly corrects habits like cribbing, reaching, and leaning on fences with safer, effective electric deterrent.

High Visibility

Black, white, or brown coatings for maximum visibility, reducing the chance of horses running into the fence.

Easy to Connect

Turn electricity on or off as needed to educate horses at different stages of training.

No Sharp Edges

Smooth polymer coating eliminates splinters, cuts, and puncture wounds common with wood or metal fencing.

Lasts Decades

No boards to replace, no painting. Can save you from unexpected vet bills. Better value over the life of your fence.

“Safety has to come first for every farm. The fact that Horserail looks so good as well is a huge bonus! I love it and will be opening more and more paddocks at Rosemont using the Horserail product.”

Anthony M.

Rosemont Stud

“We are delighted with the safety and minimal maintenance that Horserail offers. We recently had a horse hit a Horserail fence at pace and by the time we got down to the paddock we could not work out which horse had hit the fence!”

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions about our electric horse fencing.

Yes! HotTop®, HotTop Plus®, and Hotcote® products work with any low-impedance energizer. Be sure your energizer can supply enough charge for the full length of your fence. We recommend maintaining a consistent voltage of 2,000–3,000 volts around the entire fence line.
In most cases, yes! Horserail electric fencing is designed with horse safety as the top priority. The rail flexes 6-8 inches on impact, helping prevent injury. The electric deterrent is harmless and effective—similar to a static shock. Horses quickly learn to respect the fence and to keep off of it.
Many customers have had their fence standing strong for over 30 years. The rail is made from UV-stabilized medium-density polyethylene bonded to 12.5-gauge high-tensile wire. All products are backed by our limited manufacturer’s warranty of up to 30 years.
Yes! Many customers install their fences themselves, especially if they have some DIY experience. We provide detailed installation guides and videos. You can also hire a contractor to set the posts and handle groundwork, then install the rail yourself.
Cost varies depending on fence configuration, number of rails, post spacing, gates, and layout. To get an exact quote for your project, request a free estimate. You’ll be connected with a local expert who can tailor a solution based on your specific needs and budget.
For electric rail fencing, we recommend post spacing of 8–12 ft (2.4–3.6 m). For coated wire like Hotcote®, spacing can be 8–20 ft (2.4–6.1 m). The more pressure your fence is likely to experience, the closer your post spacing should be.
